POUG 2020

This year, many events have been canceled or run online only. It's unbelievable, but the ORA600 team once again showed determination and despite adversities and troubled times - they did it! The conference - was run in a hybrid form - both live and online. We had the opportunity to meet the best of the best Oracle people in the world and talk about Oracle over a beer. Who else would have succeeded if not them?

Unfortunately, I couldn't attend all presentations. However, the ones I saw as always held a high level.

Ludovico Caldara
Oracle Drivers configuration for High Availability, is it a developer's job
Ludovico showed how to connect to the database so that it has sense.

Flora Barrielle
One revoke a day keeps the Security Officer away: Make the resolution to reinforce privilege management ... and stick to it!
Flora at the very beginning of the presentation asked the question: "What would go wrong?". And then she discussed ways to avoid having to say "I don't know" to the boss.

Rodrigo Mufalani
Shell script for DBA and developers
Rodrigo presented how to write "Hello world!" in the shell. And some more.

Patrick Barel
A Collection's a Collection, no matter how small
Patrick showed how Oracle has refined its collections over the centuries.

Erik van Roon
Handling errors during bulk DML operations
Erik told us how to deal with errors. And that it's worth dealing with.

Piotr Zając
Microsoft Azure
Piotr talked about clouds and Thanksgiving (turkey perspective: o).

Piet de Visser
Partitioning - Pitfalls and Positives.
Piet suggested that before we go into partitions, it is worth considering this decision at the design stage.

Franck Pachot
19 Features You Will Miss If You Leave Oracle Database
Franck told what Oracle does, what other databases cannot and what we take for granted.

Hans-Jürgen Schönig
Moving from Oracle to PostgreSQL
Hans passionately persuaded to change to Postgres. But he did not find favorable ground: D

Sabine Heimsath
Quick Start: utPLSQL
Sabine showed testing is fun:)

Christian Berg & Mike Dietrich
Death Metal, Beer and Analytics
Lack of sound didn't stop Christian and Mike from talking about Oracle's augmented analytics. It was very easy when they did it. As easy as working around the lack of sound.

Niall Mc Phillips
Oracle Text - A Powerful Tool for Developers
Niall showed that a little-forgotten Oracle functionality - Oracle Text - is easy to use and has many interesting features.

Two days passed by lightning. It is sad to leave such wonderful people.
I am already looking forward to the next edition!
